I had the opportunity to talk to author Mona Susan Power about her new novel, A Council of Dolls, which was longlisted for the 2023 National Book Award. This is a profoundly moving novel about three generations of Dakota women spanning from the 19th century to the present day and the impact of generational trauma.

She is currently at work on a memoir, Crazy for You, and a novel, The Violet Hour Book Club. She is the recipient of two Minnesota State Arts Board grants, and has been awarded the Lake Superior Writers Creative Nonfiction Award and a Loft Mentor Series fellowship in Creative Nonfiction.
