Animal, Vegetable, Mineral?

I’m fascinated (and frustrated) by our differences. I have a friend who is a vegetarian, another who is vegan, and one who needs a separate plate for each food group at dinner because she doesn’t like her food to touch. Sometimes, I like a good cheeseburger, but lately, I’m really happy (and my body is too) when I eat more vegetables (miso crunch salad anyone?) As readers, most of us tend to stay in our lane. My go-twos are memoir and literary fiction. When my book club opted for a history book this month, I was not enthused. History is not usually my thing, I equate it to eating day old bread. I can’t eat hamburgers every day, and eating vegetables is great, but our bodies require the protein and minerals we get from eating a wide variety of foods. Likewise, reading. Excuse me while I go nourish my mind with that latest book club pick.
